Hi guys,
Look, I'm not sure if anyone else feels this way about WBLD but the ones we've had so far this year (admittedly only two and a half because I left early today) are possibly the worst I have yet encountered.
Appalling, uninvolving structure, wishy-washy topics and a general lack of any point to them - what happened to all this promise of bringing pertinent issues from practice, what happened to the group discussions?
They're awful, and I shan't be attending any more of them.
Am I alone?

Craig, I did not attend WBLD on the 4th as you know, however I can understand where you are coming from regarding previous ones. Have you emailed Sarah with constructive feedback? And I always thought you had to attend at lease 80-90%? Take care Teresa S.

I am seeing Sarah Brooks next week, and have spoken to Jenny Child. The thing is, I don't know if it's just me that feels this way or if the rest of the group feels the same.

Hi Craig - I was away for the first one as I was at DH. I have hesitated to reply as my comment is connected with my presentation on Spirituality, and didn't want to be blowing own trumpet. But I think people liked the opportunity of thinking about this topic, and there seemed to be a good discussion, so sorry you weren't there. My comment about WBLDs recently is that we have been over-facilitated. I wish we could be treated as adults and enabled more to organise our own programme. JH shoe-horned us into his own predetermined schedule, and the last WBL Day seemed similarly driven by the facilitator -we had no round the room catch-up for some reason. I think we gain most by contributing, e.g. Jenny's and Andy's activities are brilliant, but we don't seem to get enough opportunities for that. Perhaps for our last placement, we could all insist that we have an active part in planning the programme, with everyone participating with a topic, maybe one person per WBLD? That wouldn't be too much work ...... For what it's worth ......

Hi there
I agree with Jess and feel that too many of our WBLD 's have been taken up by the facilitators, however we have not been forceful enough to rein them in.
I enjoy being away from my ward, however things have got a little better in the last 2-3 weeks, but that’s not a good enough reason to come to WBL.
Another 3rd year student on my ward says that they have had a lot of free time when WBL has been scheduled especially when assignments are due, like UBEC Utilising Evidence Based Care due in tomorrow for the 5 of us Diploma students.
I have heard to pass the course that there is a certain percentage of WBLD that we need to attend to pass this course and would suggest that anyone looks at their attendance before not attending as this may be an obstacle to qualifying.
On Friday next I am doing a few minutes of the affects of Nutrition on dementia and the possible causes for confusion. Anto

Thanks for all your feedback guys - I'm going to send Jenny Child an e-mail with some of the suggestions I've had because she's still not assigned us a facilitator for the next block of WBLD's.
I won't be there this Friday but hope to see everyone soon.
