Teresa W alerted me to the fact that we in Bath will not be getting our assignment workshop until 12 October. This means we only have 3 days (?!!!!!! )(*&^%$) to get in a draft to the module team, as the deadline for this is the 15th.
Does anyone else feel Extremely Strongly that this is Quite Ridiculous?
Craig - can we as the Bath Group make some kind of approach to the module team and say how disappointing this is, especially by contrast with the other groups? It is very unfair to leave our workshop so late.

Jess,
I have e-mailed Kate this morning and asked that either the workshop be on an earlier WBLD (though I don't think there are any other spare ones) or that Bath student be allowed an extra week to submit drafts so that we at least have a weekend to work on them following the workshop.
I will update you when I have a response.

Craig - Thank you. I really think this places our group at a significant disadvantage.
For what it's worth, I think that the 5 workshops did not hit the mark either. While I missed 2, I understand from others that I didn't miss much (!). You will recall that on workshop 5, we spent nearly an hour going through the answers to that quiz, so that I came away with no clearer an idea of implementing research than I had when I arrived. I would have been better off studying at home!
I would like to know if this is the last run of the module, because if so, it might explain why there seems to be a complete lack of motivation on UWE's part to help us pass it.
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately Lorna is away till 17th Sep according to her out of office message, because I was thinking her influence on this might have been useful.

PS - Or maybe we could be allowed the day out of placement to attend one of the workshops at UWE??

Is the module ending? I don't see any feasible way that they could get rid of it totally, given all future students will be undertaking degrees and thus doing a dissertation on a number of research articles?
I agree about the final two workshops though - utter rubbish!

I understood they were redesigning the whole course, e.g. FOH will no longer feature, and IP1 has gone. There may be a research module, but I had assumed it was all going to change. It doesn't really matter but I wondered if everyone's efforts were going in to getting the new modules running ...... I thought that ICAN needed a complete revamp as a lot of the supporting info was really old. Hope to hear about progress with Kate McMP soon. Thanks again.

I suppose this is better than nothing. Someone would have to contact Julian Hunt to make sure he is happy: is Kate leaving that to us?
Not sure what is going on re module leader - I thought it was Kate McM-P? I'm past caring! What matters is that we drew the short straw, and I cannot understand why they couldn't have arranged another day. Why does it have to be during a WBLD? I thought WBLDs are really meant to be supporting us in practice, which is another module entirely, so it's possible we would be losing out on support in that area.
I have given up trying to understand Logic According to UWE! And as for fairness ........

I think Jayne James is the module leader for Nursing Practice Year 2, and as WBLD falls under her module, I presume Kate is just being polite and checking that she doesn't mind the session being hijacked.
I've raised the issue before about doing things in cohort groups always seeming to leave Bath 'til last, and that seemed to have been addressed during the theory block this year (or maybe it was a co-incidence).
But I'm not throwing my toys out of the pram at the inclusion of it in a WBLD - we've spent the past year and a half moaning that we hardly ever do anything of actual use during the sessions - and Kate isn't wanting to take up the whole session anyway...

Don't worry - I am just being Devil's advocate. Thank you for fighting our corner.

Jayne has ok'ed it and let Julian know that Kate will be coming in. If possible, could we let the students that we're in touch with know so that they can bring the necessary materials to the session? Thanks!
